"In Finnish mythology, a Näkki is a shapeshifting water spirit who usually appears in human form, that resides in murky pools, wells, docks, piers and under bridges that cross rivers.
He is principally known for pulling young children into the depths, if they lean over bridge railings, docks or otherwise look into water surfaces to see their own reflection and touch the water. Näkki is a fine example of a spirit enlisted by parents to guide children away from unsafe practices."

Yesh. It's been too long time since I drew anything mythology or nature related pictures. So here you have a Näkki from finnish mythology (though same kind of water spirit mythology is also found in another countries). I wanted to draw androgynous and "beautiful" upper part but menacing and hollow part under the water. I kind of liked the idea him/her being the soul of drowned person who wants to share his/her destiny. 

This was quite fun to do -but it was also time consuming. I started to do this around May but forgot about it and finished it a while ago. This creature was also nice to draw since I remember how my parents used to warn me about "Näkki" who would pull me under water if I was not careful. (There's a river next to my parent's house so no wonder they wanted me to be careful.)
